The first PS4 open beta patch has launched! This payload of content includes plenty of features that are new to PS4: Onslaught Mode, the Battle Bonus system (which replaces Fleet Maintenance) and a revamped training experience for new captains!
ONSLAUGHT MODE
Onslaught adds AI-controlled ships to the mix. In this game mode, matches are chaotic and the objective is simple: rack up points for your team by destroying as many enemy vessels or neutral AI ships as possible.
Throughout a match, you'll have the freedom to engage enemies as well as AI ships, which spawn across the map in three different sizes. While destroying both types of vessels adds points to your team's score, an opponent's ship is worth much more than a smaller AI ship.
BATTLE BONUS REPLACES FLEET MAINTENANCE
Battle Bonus boosts the amount of all three currencies that you earn after a match: Credits, Ship XP and Free XP. Unlike the maintenance system that it replaces, if you lose, you’ll still be able to play your fleet as much as you want. You just won’t get the extra bonus (the exception is the Recruit fleet, which is always affected by Battle Bonus). Basically, you can play any fleet, anytime!
NEW CAREER PROGRESSION
Complete challenges to earn rewards! The career progression system enables novice captains to learn the basics of Dreadnought, but it also offers incentives for experienced ones to leave their comfort zones and try new things. While these career progression goals are optional, fulfilling them offers valuable rewards like XP, Credits and GP.
NEW CAPTAIN TRAINING
We’ve replaced the existing training matches with some “on-the-job” captain training. Learn the ropes of command by taking the helm of the Simargl Dreadnought and defending Sinley Bay’s Acaste navigation beacon!
THE PROVING GROUNDS
Now you can learn the art of commanding a capital ship on the Proving Grounds! In this game mode, Bix sends you out to defend Sinley Bay and its Okeanides navigation beacons from an invading fleet. Complete this mission to prove that you’re worthy of access to the beacons—and your own ship!
On the Proving Grounds, you and other new players take on a team of AI-controlled ships (after 1 minute of matchmaking, your team is filled with AI). Once you complete 3 matches in this game mode, you’re free to try out other modes: Team Deathmatch, Onslaught, Team Elimination or Havoc. And while this game mode is part of the new onboarding process, it’s also open for anyone to join.
Completing Proving Grounds matches rewards you with Credits and XP (but its rewards are less than those given by PVP game modes).
NEW HELPER HUD
New to Dreadnought? We’ve added a Helper HUD overlay that provides information on the controls. You can activate it during any match by pressing “options.”
NEW CONTRACT SYSTEM
In addition to the career progression system, contracts add another layer of challenges—and rewards. You can find the “contracts” tile under the “play” tile on the Dashboard. A new contract is added every day upon your first login, provided that a contract slot is available.
ADDITIONAL SOCIAL FEATURES
Now it’s easier to find and connect with players you’ve come across in battle. For example, you can view the profile of any player (from either team) and send friend requests from the scoreboard screen that appears at the end of each match.
IN-GAME TEXT NOW IN POLISH!
Przygotuj się do bitwy, kapitanie! (Get ready for battle, captain!) Now you can command the skies in Polish. This new language support currently includes all in-game text.
MARKET UPDATE
The first PS4 open beta patch also brings new content to the market. Check out all the new items Sinley Bay has to offer!
THE ZARATAN
Command the Zaratan, a Tier-IV light Destroyer for 4,000 GP! It’s a prime example of Oberon’s cutting-edge ramming tech. The turtle at the bow of this vessel can pierce any ship’s hull.
MORRIGAN COATING
Inspired by a Celtic goddess, this dark, raven-like paint job can be yours for 200 GP. You can also get the Morrigan coating collection for 800 GP, which enables you to use this midnight-black paint job on any of your ships!
DEATH OF THE JACKRABBIT DECAL
This ferocious decal was favored by a fearless faction of PCF fighters, the 76th Jackrabbit regiment. Pay tribute to their bravery for 200 GP—just don’t follow their legacy too closely. This dauntless bunch went down in a blaze of glory on the front lines of the war.
BLOODBATH PATTERN
This macabre design (400 GP) was worn by Pan-Colonial Fleet captains late in the Great Solar War—a time of great desperation for humanity. Legend has it that some regiments performed ritual sacrifices before battle. Of course, tales of this practice are merely stories.
HELLBORNE COATING
Give your vessel a fiery, crimson coat of armor. Paint your ship with the Hellborne coating for 400 GP.
REAPER COATING
For an outlaw, there’s no higher crime than treachery. Used on the ships of a group known as the Hydra Mercenaries, the Reaper coating (300 GP) is a clear reminder of the value of loyalty—and the price of betrayal: your soul.
