Friend suggested this game, but 1 look at your ships and I was gone.

If the looks of the ships annoy you, you would not have liked the game at all. It is lightyears away from any realistic logical approach, it follows the fun/balance > realism line. So nothing in this game is made around theoretical possible space warfare. It is esentially Star Wars.

Let's face it, the only realistic spaceship in Star Wars is the Deathstar

@OP: I don't know any "practical military spaceship design" because they don't exist. This is a fantasy game, it can be pretty or ugly or whatever you call it, but expecting it to be realistic is the last thing I do

I mean, is there a real-life Dreadnought somewhere? Has someone been lying to me?! :o

Like I said the Deathstar is the only realistic one xD When ships are built in space, there's no need for flat design or orientation or wings and such. A round ship with 360 degree firing angle is the best design

Each to their own, but personally, I love the ship designs and the different manufacturer characteristics.

I feel like every ship in my fleet has a soul

well, to theme a realistic ship dersign is a bit... whatever, but if a ship really is buiild in space, it doesn't really matter how it looks, if it is a deathstar or something more pretty, or maybe a megamaid like in spaceballs, so i'm not really sure why this discussion became such a "big thing" xD

Probably due to the ridiculous nature of OP's complaint. The Expanse is the only show I've see that trys to come close to realistic physics for spacecraft/zero-g battles, but even then they take liberties for the sake of entertainment.

A game based around real-world physics in space with "realistic" spacecraft would be phenominally boring, from an arcade perspective. Hmm, lets take several minutes to math out our trajectory of our ballistic shot, fire it, then wait X hours for it to hit it's target! (maybe) RIVITING
