A new patch and my three biggest issues with the game haven't even been touched.

First of all, the matchmaker is still garbage. Absolute trash. And if you have full squads on either team the problem is even worse. I didn't have ONE single match tonight that wasn't lobsided one way or the other.

Second, the Jutland's main guns are still completely useless. Their spread is still too great at range, and their dps is so abysmal that there is absolutely no reason to use them vs the secondaries.

Third, and most importantly, the Vindicta is still OP as can be. Every single match tonight, the top players were always in Vindictas. If the enemy team has more than one of them, there's no point in even trying. There is nothing that can counter this build: Flak Turrets T4, Plasma Ram T4, Drain Torpedo T4, Scrambler Pulse T4, Thrust Amplifier T4, Module Recycler, Module Amper, Engine Rigger, It's a Trap! Any small ship is dead in 2 seconds. Any large ship is dead in 5. Sure I can take them out with a tractor/broadside combo but that is usually after they have charged in with all their engine boosts and rammed at least one of my teammates.

I agree on 1. On 2, disagree. They're not meant to be long range guns. At < 1200 they have the best dps of any dread gun, and since most jutlands are warp jutlands...it works out well.

On 3, being one of those vindis fighting you, you and your team did nothing to stop us. Literally nothing. No stasis, no disruptor, no purge, no warping away, no evasive, tractor, literally nothing that would save you. Not even moving. That's not a problem with ram, that's a problem with you. Any small ship in a good team will never be touched. Any large ship in a good team doesn't even have to worry about rams - it'll shrug multiple off.

1 - agree.

2 - no idea, don't have a Jutland, but it is very weird for me that the slowest ship of the whole game has so stupidly low effective firing range.

3 - Taking a step back, I'd think the problem with Vindictas, or the Corvette class is that people aren't really given a chance to notice them. The minimap plain and simple sucks, it's too small and compared to that the ship icons on it are too big. To top it off, enemy ship icons are not in "always on top" mode, so in a blob they are very easily overlapped (hidden) by the blue/friendly icons. So the smaller half of this problem is: "frak the minimap!".

The bigger half of it is another stupid game mechanic, that is handicapping everyone, but especially tac cruisers: you're forced to look in a specific way, to target your weapons, or more importantly your healing beam. 95% of the time I die when flying a healer is caused by me not having a real chance to look around, because I have to keep the green beam of life on specific ships. This is very annoying. A game with a combat system requiring a lot of situational awareness is - by design! - taking away your ability of free look. Like, seriously, wtf?...

Another matchmaking based game always comes to my mind regarding this matter: Armored Warfare. In that game, when you right click another tank, your own turret/gun starts auto-aiming it. It is not real aim, it does not target weakspots, does not bother with obstacles, does not lead targets, it is actually borderline useless for actual fighting (except point blank range, but even there it is not that great), but it does one thing: make your weapon track the target independently of your aim reticle, allowing you to look around. Of cours right clicking again stops the auto-aim, so you can resume aiming your shots as you're supposed to. It is not an aimbot, and is not meant to substitute player aim in any way, it just lets you look around while you can still fire your weapon in the general direction of your target.

I always understood Primary Weapon is called "primary" because 19 times out of 20 the Primary Weapon has a farther maximum range than the Secondary Weapon, so that you use Primary Weapon first as you close in on a target, then switch to Secondary Weapon.

I kill PooJub a whole lot when he is in his Vindicta by using Stasis Ammo on my Destroyer. To be fair, T3 ships have are at a disadvantage because they can't equip Purge Beam, Evasive Maneuvers, Disruptor Missile, Stasis Ammo, etc.

For T3, I'd make a loadout for one of your Tactical Cruisers to have Stasis Beam and a loadout for one of your Artillery Cruisers to have Stasis Missile; then you can swap into these loadouts if the other team has a ramming Vindicta.

I find that hard to belive, perhaps they've been buffed in PC vs PS4? On PS4 I can empty nearly an entire clip into an Assult Ship at point blank range before it dies, whereas it just takes 2 shots from the repeaters to kill.

He meant Dread primary guns, they have a dps of 1600 on the PC (in the 0-1200m range that is).

  1. Agree. Every other patch they do try something to improve MM, but it always has something about it that can be done better.

  2. Absolutely agree. These guns need to behave, sound, and feel more like a WWII battleship.

  3. Same as LYB - Foojub (My Jutland/Monarch never leaves the hanger without at least one build having stasis pulse).

  1. Matchmaking has been tweaked and will continue to be until we feel it's in a good state. Much like balancing of weapons and modules.

  2. Personally I've never had a problem with the Jutland primaries. But much like I mentioned in 1, balance of weapons and modules will continue to be assessed. Especially if the demand or want is there.

  3. Really? Interesting. This is the first time I've heard anyone say anything about Vindictas being OP, that's interesting. Personally I haven't had a match against a Vindicta that felt unfair. As mentioned in the previous numbers, if this were to continue to be reported we'll certainly look into it.
