Regarding the New Sound Effects. [IMHO]

I listened to the new gunfire sound effects, and here's what I think of them:

Medic Damage Beam:

Old one feels more...damaging. New one isn't bad, but maybe give it a more sharp sound.

Sniper Fire:

Divided on; I like the deep reverb after effect, but it sounds really scifi-ey compared to the old "LAUNCHING A RAIL PROJECTILE INTO YOUR FACE"

what I would do is-- 1. Use new sound effect ONLY with Oberon AC, the most high tech scifi-ey ships. (Rapid Fire would sound awesome) 2. Keep old sound effect with Jupiter Arms. 3. Mke extra sound effect for Akula Vector AC...something really sharp, with a booming echo; like launching a cannon.

Flak Fire:

Indifferent, but the new sound sounds like a musket...it doesn't feel as much like flak. perhaps use it with the more heavy versions of flak?

Hey there.

I actually like the idea of using different sounds based on the manufacturer or perhaps even ships. Not sure it's feasible right now as it would require more work to separate/work on new sounds but I'll definitely share the feedback internally.

It would be really nice, if you could choose which sounds you want to use on a ship individually. Also they could put bonus sounds into the marketplace for like 200-300 greybox points.

I love the idea of different sounds for different manufacturers. But much like Tytyes has said, I'm unsure if it's feasible. The new sounds sound great, especially in the heat of battle, I'm looking forward to everyone's feedback.

I'd rather see the old Damage Beam sound kept instead of the new one (the new one doesn't seem sinister enough to me); maybe a different new one that is more more similar to the sound of welding/blowtorching metal with pops, hisses, crackles, and creaking metal.

As a matter of fact, that's a fantastic idea in general - creaking metal hull sounds should be added - places for options to include them could be when a ship

  • Has low HP
  • Explodes
  • Is hit by high damage enemy fire
  • Collides with other ships or terrain
