Any plans when the scoring system will get fixed?

Like mentioned:

"Any plans when the scoring system will get fixed?"

Because:

  • "Dealing 98k damage to Command Ship on Onslaugt -> Assist."
  • "Dealing 86k damage to hostile Jutland -> Assists."
  • "Dealing 12k damage to Command Ship on Onslaught -> Captain kill"
  • "Poking a Corvette with 3k damage -> Captain kill"
  • "Delaing 50k damage to hostile Blud -> No points at all."

Looks really really heavily broken for me.

So, seriously, please fix this. Especially the Conquest mode. 500 Points for taking a Checkpoint? I'm sick of Corvettes with 4k+ score just by retaking CP after CP and beside this doing nothing. (And often cause the Team to fail/lose, just because they're on the hunt for their personal score.)

I think this system needs a pretty big overhaul. And way more accurate grant of points for stuff you're doing/you're not doing.

Captain kills should be given to the player who did the most damage and/or got the last hit.

Corvettes can only get that high a score if you don't hold your control point. Problem is people let them take the points so they can then retake them to boost there own score by taking them back.

I would also add artillry cruiser score to the list. Even with 10-15 kills my score is really bad, because its all about earning ribbons. So I end up in the lower half on my team basically all the time.

I agree that boosting your score in conquest mode is egoistic and shouldn't be done, but taking a cp is really important. This is what a corvette should focus on in conquest mode, because they don't get points for holding territory.

I prefer playing tactical cruisers or destroyers in conquest because unlike corvettes you gain loads of points for claiming territory and if you are playing a tactical cruiser with nuclear mine you just lay it into the cp and do something else. The enemy corvette will fly in to retake the point and die instantly which grants you 300 points for doing basicly nothing.

Various forms of balance within the game will be assessed once Steam launch is complete. A lot of it is already in the preparation stage. So do expect to continue to see more work being done. We appreciate the feedback and input!

Sometimes scoring events such as Assist or Kill aren't stated even thought they have been given because other scoring events are shown instead, this is especially frequent in Conquest with all the scoring events going on. There is a rarer bug in which a kill isn't registered at all for the player (the kill is not added to the player's scoreboard), but the kill is added to the team's score.

Under the current scoring system I just play for personnal score, and a little bit for team score. Sure winning is great and when i'm with a good squad i seek to help my allies a little bit, but only in TDM.

Lately i was playing in a TDM match where i was warping my Jutland in the middle of enemies dying quickly but gaining big score bonus. At some point, a players even said to me to "stop feed the enemy". In the end we lost the match, but i had a really high scores thanks for the tanking, frontline freaks and berserkers ribbons score bonus. Giving me of course a lot of XPs and Credits.

As I say to all new players, currently in Dreadnought, its better to score big and lose than score small and win.

In both Onslaught and Conquest sadly, the devs have made scoring events a solo thing. I dream of the day where they devise an incentive where the scoring events are shared within the team.

Another solution would be to make the winning bonus a bigger part of the XP and credits that we gain to encourage team play. But at the same time, having wins barely affect your XP and credits gains is a good idea since winning and losing is often dependent on complete strangers that you play the game with.

Optimally scoring should be a guide for playing to win. It is, for example, good that doing damage alone gives almost no points, because only damage that leads to a kill is relevant for winning.

Taking control points is the most important part in Conquest. If anything, high corvette scores reflect that they are the best ships for the mode, not that there is a need to change the reward for point capture. The big problem with scoring in Conquest is: Point Defense Kills give many points, but the assists for them don't. Defense needs to be rewarded more, which would also normalize corvette scores to an extent.
