PSA: Ship Credit Cost Adjustments & More Matchmaking Changes

You can't please everyone and that I know as well, but the main problem is there is a huge imbalance with Fleet prices against module prices. That has to be adjusted as soon as possible. I know the devs can't work miracles either, but this is rather very expensive, time consuming for both new and veteran players and honestly I just bought the palos so I can transcend to the monarch and I am not sure I will get it any time soon cause grinding with a fleet like that is simply impossible with those amount of credits and xp I need. It will force me to either quit the game until it is fixed or to re-do it all on another "set of fleets" until something is done about it.

With all do respect this is quite a problem for the players. It kinda disappointed me today cause I spend two days to get that fleet and now I know I can only progress pass it if I grind half my life through the game or I won't be able to get it which is kinda not possible for me which means for me Dreadnought hit a wall on my plans. I will shift to other fleets to buy and such, but this will render some of your precious and most amazing fleets too difficult to get for what they are worth. It will imbalance the game system's potential until something is done about it. Then there is also when you lose a game the maintenance is higher then what you gain from the match itself which means you lose credits. Which I shouldn't explain how it feels to us players. If you are a terrible player you can learn to become better, but if the game doesn't give you that chance then your stuck without progression and you quit. Which will keep out all new players very happily that is the beginning of the downfall of a game. I know it's likely going to be adjusted once realized, but rather do it fast before more players come inbound. Just a tip. smile

As I said, we and mostly I understand that it takes time, but I ask as a member and veteran player of the game to balance it as soon as it is possible. Cause this is quite frustrating and unfortunately very sad.

is it possible that if a match can not be made. by short on players that the system automatic can implement NPC as add to fill the match instead of me waiting 10 min. smile

I read that match making is taken so long I am also affected by it.

That'd be an awesome idea to help curve the queue times, but to be honest I don't think it's possible. THOUGH, that would be really awesome. Any kind of woes revolving around matchmaking / queue times after the hotfix should be bypassed with a higher player traffic. Which our teams are currently working on.

NO, NO, NO. The last thing this needs is Dumb-@@@ AI 'allies' to feed the enemy, get massacred, and cost more games. I would rather sit in que for hours then get a single game where i have to rely on NPC "help."

Haha, don't worry! It's certainly not something that we've heard is coming. I just thought it'd be a good idea! But I understand where you're coming from. I've had too many bad experiences with games like Left 4 Dead 1/2 or Payday 2 when the real player is replaced by AI and has no idea what's going on. It doesn't work well in cooperative scenarios, I can't imagine it working any better in competitive ones. Especially ones that are more complex.

won’t be issuing any Credit refunds to the players that have reached tier III before the price reduction.
Thank you for your continued efforts in making this game less appealing..

I am completely new to the game. I have been watching it for a long time. And, iv been wanting in for just as long. My son got me the small package for an early Xmas gift, and so far, I like the gameplay. BUT....(I know always a "but")

Like I said, I'm new, so I don't know how the game was prier to about 3 days ago. I got into this and seen that all of the T2 ships were 3500 creds. Not including their upgrades. I thought; "Why spend on all these upgrades, when I can save up for a nice T2 ship?" I bought 3 T2's. Then after researching them out, I find that to get a T3 ship, the cost JUMPS to 24k creds....Wow...Now that's a high jump. But, I'm down with that. I thought that being a "recruit" fleet must pay less than a "vet"....So, I grinded out my first 24k and bought a T3. Made my Vet fleet that had 1 T3 and 3 T2's ...This is where I am having issues....

Now, I'm going up against a lot of T4's with my 1 T3 and T2's. I not only feel like I can't really pull my weight in the match, but I have only been on the winning team once out of 5 matches played now. After my first game, We lost. I seen a "maintenance" cost. 600 creds....Ok...Well, I didn't notice how much I made from that loss..So, I pay it, and go in to play another. Yep, another loss. I notice I made about 700 creds.....WHAT? So, I basically made NOTHING for a loss. In a VET match? I make around 1-2k creds for a recruit match. Even on a loss. But, I can only muster barely the cost of "maintenance"? I figured for sure that Vet matches would pay more than Recruit matches...

Now, I find myself not even interested in play Vet matches. I would rather just play recruit. Surely this is NOT what the Dev's want? I have to play, at least 2, Rec matches to make up for a loss in a Vet match.

Just a suggestion here: First, I don't mind paying maintenance. Really I don't. But, make it more Logical. If you are going to charge so much for a T3 ship, not including the cost of their upgrades, then we need to earn some coin in the match. Regardless of win or loss. I can see taking a hit on creds earned, for a loss. So, hows about this:

1: Limit this "maintenance" to the ship/s used in the match. The more the one ship is used, the higher the cost of maintenance on THAT ship. So, the more you die in a Vet match, the higher the cost of "maintenance" for that ship. (If you don't die in the match, even in a loss, then you endure no maintenance cost) Then if you lose the match, you pay a "refit" cost to the whole fleet. (But, all of this needs to be reasonable in cost per match coin earned)

2: Maintenance cost should encourage "team" work. So, it should be because of "death", not just loss of a match. So, this "maintenance" cost should be given to ANY ship that has "died". No matter if their team won or lost. This should also encourage more teams to want to use "healers" to save their team the maintenance cost on their ships. "Risk=Reward"...

3: All prices and coins earned, need a little attention. To go from buying a new T2 ship for 3500 creds, to a T3 for 24,000 creds, seems like a HUGE hike. Either lower the cost of T3, and upgrades. Or, make the Vet matches more worth the time to even grind them. (Which I think would all boil down to the earnings from Vet matches) Increasing the earnings from Vet matches, may "fix" most of this.

I like the game so far. But, I hate to pay 600 creds for a loss in a Vet match, especially when I barely made the maintenance cost. That's not a "grind". That's a; "quit playing those matches"!


We're still dominating Captain! But, just barely.......

Why cant we just convert our in game gold into credits ? I just started playing I bought the 10 dollar med dred and played some games with it and liked it but it was lacking in firepower at the veteran level so I bought the Trident and really like it but as im progressing through the game the rewards as far as credits go seem pretty lack luster. That brings me back to my original question why cant we convert gold into credits ?.

The devs might be trying to avoid "pay-to-win" scenarios though I would spend a few hundred dollars to unlock several tier 5 ships. Unfortunately, the select few players with tier 5 ships can't get into any matches because nobody queues in legendary (veteran queues are challenging enough to get a match during peak hours).
I would be in support of a pay for credit based system which would surely generate a ton more income for Greybox but I don't want to stray too far off this thread's focus! smile
I hear ya. Making a match is a huge headache, if i dont make a match in 10 i dont play, theres plenty of games to choose from... Hopefully this one gonna get fixed a little cause its awesome. Maybe if they would allow to co-op with friends, invite to match button would help, would make matching faster??? i know that some other players maybe cant find friends, but most ive seen on matches are tired of matchmaking time and i ask them to be friends and almost all of them agree. so why cant we play with 10-15 friends instead of waiting 10-50min for random?
