You'd be telling your core/long time players are the time and money they spent on the game is now fot nothong because everyone is back to square one. Theyre investments would be wasted and in terms of elite status youre taking away the product they payed for. How can you not consider that harmful? Those players would likely bolt and numbers go down even further.

Which product are you referring to?

And do you mean to say that achievements are more important than gameplay? If the old alpha/beta population has to start again, big deal. People who like to play will continue to play. No sunk cost should interfere with that. This whole king of the mountain system with finely tuned builds can start fresh. At least this time more poeple will push for the heights.

Elite status. People paid for it to progress faster so if you do a wipe they will have paid for nothing in return. Sunk costs gets you somewhere, a wipe means you just threw money away. Same with all those hours of the grind; they would all mean nothing. So yes, it is a big deal if veteran players lost all they got.

Imagine if you worked for a company for years, got increases in wages, time off, benefits etc and then the company is struggling and goes "we're rolling everyone back to entry level positions because the newer employees sake." So now your wages, time off and benefits are back to where you started years earlier. Would that be no big deal? Thats pretty much a wipe does: everything they spent time and money on gets taken away. Again, I dont see how you think that isnt a problem.

Further, even with the same ships the experienced players are still going to win because of said experienced, so the whole point of your wipe doesnt even really help.

I view elite status as a game enhancement. I don't see how you calibrate it as a possession or a product. A good example is people spending money at the fair or casino for enjoyment. This game costs nothing to play so, yes tip the developers if you enjoy it. Also, experience with the tools to execute is far more powerful than just experience.

Its something you pay for to get something in return, in this case more credits and xp. It doesnt matter if you call it a product, service or game enhancement; if you paid for it then what you used it for is wiped out, you paid for nothing.

You go to a casino you need to pay to play, so the example doesnt really hold up comparing to a FtP.

I play veteran when my legendary queue is in cooldown and Im often the higheat rated player in the match and everyone is flying T3s. The equal ships dont stop me from romping them at times.

You can disagree, but it doesnt change the fact that 1) everyone who put all the time and in some cases money to get where they are will be mad and 2) level 50 players and squads playing at a lower rankng iisnt going to change them beating less experienced players and them still leaving. Of course thats assuming long time players even stick around and the player base hasnt been dwindled further and made queue times worse.

Theres nothing to gain with a restart.

Also, veteran players will have game knowledge that new players don't, so they will still get smashed anyway. a wipe fixes nothing at best, the player count would go down as a result.

what the game needs is new game content. and an advertising push.

but we will get what we get.

Yep. A veteran that used to be a level 50 playing at level 25 doesnt change anything. Doing a wipe in HOPES of gaining new players will only end up alienating long time players. People who spent money on elite status will have literally thrown away their money; what would they do but leave the game after that?

Dreadnought is just too repetitive and way too grindy sometimes, especially credits. The same Maps, the same goals. Destroy other ships/capture stuff. The Game needs to offer the player a variety of interesting things, content which is new and interesting. Like a fighter jet dogfight mode, or a Bossfight mode where the team must defeat a transhuman superweapon. New Ship classes to offer new tactics and a fresh experience. But instead, the devs just piššed off and left us, a big betrayal like Star Wars 9 or No Man's Sky

Fully agree. Ive thought the idea of taking on a transhuma dread as a squad would be good for a while. At least one more map would be nice for some change. I also think a tour mode would be good, where new players can fly around not in combat and learn the maps.

A new class would be nice but I think would need to add another ship slot, another dozen ships would be a big additional grind. Not sure what they could do besides either a carrier, frigate (speed and firepower between a vette and destroyer) or some kind of specialized cruiser between a destroyer and dread.
