Countering corvettes by different class ships?

I honestly think corvettes will be the reason people dont play this game. It's just my personal opinion but every game without corvettes is usually enjoyable. The second you throw a halfway decent corvette into the mix its an absolutely terrible experience.

I am only on recruit atm, but I found that active Autoturrets normally spook a Corvette away. As soon as his ships gets a few hits, Corvette Pilots tend to hide (for good reason). Else, a Flak gun to the face, but that only works if he is too close in my (limited) experience.

Most important point: Keep your eyes open. A Corvette is strongest if unseen. If he dives in, shoot in his rough direction and again, he will be spooked. But that won´t help much if you are in an arty ship. Or as we biologists call it: "Corvettes natural prey"

It's the total opposite for me if there's no vette in play where the game turns into whoever has more healers wins. I'm sorry I'm most likely one of those people who make the ship even more irritating to fight.

you won't escape my Frightning bolts!!!

The lower tiers don't have as much going on. There are more counter modules at higher tier that work against them.
But also, you just need to learn how to counter them. A lot of what they have going for them is surprise. If you see a vet coming at you before its attacked your a lot better off at fighting him off. Especially since 2/3 of the vets can only shoot in frontal cone, so once they turn away they cant fire on you (or if you somehow navigate behind them). Like most fast things you wanna lock them down. Drain their energy, lock there modules or slow their speed. Corvettes punish teams the most when they don't have good situational awareness. A vet that comes in to attack and almost immediately gets fired on by 2-3 allies usually fails.

Also, the tacs counter them to some degree since they very accurate laser beam weapons. So you could always do that, put energy to weapons and or use the beam amp module and target them.

I don't know. I have a heck of a time trying to counter corvettes. I've nailed them with a destroyers main guns, barely seems to do any damage. Flak guns are all but useless unless they stay still and are right on top of you as the range sucks for them.
just seems main guns have a hard time hitting vettes and the secondaries which seem to be more suited for the close combat vs vettes and they just seem weak and no range.

Flaks are more or less a trap, they are better at engaging big target close than anything else (except the light flak, this one has no use at all). They lack range (and probably clip and projectile speed) to do well in anything else.
If you want to send corvettes down in flames, go for a light or medium tac.

EDIT: Some people says flak can intercept missiles and such.

Honestly with a number of Artillery Cruisers I haven't had the hardest time countering Corvettes. But of course it all depends on the situation, some are certainly harder than others. The secondary weapon is always incredibly important in that kind of situation. Not to mention it's always helpful ensuring that the rest of the team keeps an eye on them (any Corvettes). I've noticed in games where they don't feel like a nuisance is when they're tagged very frequently and the entire team works together to control them.

"hey man, just shield up" Tell that to my drain torpedo. Speaking as an abuser of corvettes, there really is nothing you can do about a corvette attacking you aside from having enough HP to survive its full burst combo or having 2 near by allies heal you and shoot the vette. Of course, in pubs, nobody is actually going to pay any attention to the vette except the person dying, sooooooo. That means anything smaller than a destroyer is pretty much dead to rights from my experience as a corvette player, and very rarely will a team actually pay any attention to you except maybe the one Palos on the enemy team, but he cant kill you anyway, unless you approach from the open for 4000 meters.

So, just stick next to your tactical cruiser and pray to god hes actually paying enough attention to save you.

See, thats the problem. It takes the entire team, constantly having their heads on a swivel and stopping everything they are doing to coordinate fire every time they see a corvette, just to keep them in check. not exactly an ideal balance approach.

now, I dont hate corvettes. I think they are the most fun ships in the game, but even I have to admit that they are super abusive, and there is very little you can do to respond to them as an individual player, besides dog-fighting in another corvette or spamming the target highlight thingy. You can even duel destroyers of the same tier with a bit of finesse, and that is just a little silly.
