By participating on this Message Board, you are agreeing to abide by the following list of rules and guidelines. They are your responsibility to read and know - so please educate yourself! Saying "I didn't know I couldn't do that" is not going to be an accepted excuse if you are actioned by a moderator for inappropriate behavior. We recognize that they are extensive, but they are also pretty standard.
We do not believe in censorship -- we want to hear all of your opinions regardless of whether they are positive or negative...assuming that you are always posting CONSTRUCTIVELY. If you are upset, we know you are capable of posting by giving specific examples as to why. Simply throwing out angry statements, offensive remarks/words or getting abusive is only going to get your post removed and that doesn't help you make your point OR the give the Developers information that will help them fix the problem. So don't do that!
We want everyone to have a great time here, but only you can help make that a reality! So read up and please behave yourselves. :)
RULE 0: THINGS NOT COVERED BY OTHER RULES
This is a private board owned by Grey Box. As such, our decisions are final, and we can take any action necessary to control the boards, even if an offense does not specifically fall into one of the rules below. We reserve the right to remove any message board content without notice for any reason.
RULE 1: RESPONSES TO RULE VIOLATIONS
Violating these rules will result in warnings, either formal or informal, suspensions, banning, or other sanctions. We try very hard to be fair, and not to use sanctions without good reason.
RULE 2: RESPECT OTHER USERS ON THE FORUMS
-Do not make attacks or insult other users, either in the forums or through private messages. Disagreements and debates are fine, but don’t make it personal.
-Do not attack groups. This includes professions, races, religions, sexual orientations, genders, incomes, or even vague references like “you people.”
-Do not use terms which are offensive to groups, such as “gay” or “retarded” as an insult.
-Do not “flame.” These are posts intended to personally attack, berate and anger another user.
-Do not “troll.” These are posts intended to bait other users into getting angry, or getting into unproductive discussions.
-Do not haze new users. We were all new once. New members should feel welcome, and you should help them with their questions, no matter how ill-informed they might be. With a little help, today’s newbies are tomorrow’s experts!
RULE 3: RESPECT OUR FORUM PURPOSE AND STRUCTURE
-Make your posts in the appropriate forum.
-Don’t start discussions about non-Grey Box games.
-Do not cross-link to other message boards or websites unless approved by a moderator.
RULE 4: RESPECT THE LAW
-Do not post anything illegal under U.S. law, or encourage other users to break the laws of the U.S. or their country of residence.
-Do not encourage users to break Grey Box’s Terms of Service. This includes giving information about how to find scripts, exploits, or cheats, as well as arranging to buy or sell accounts or virtual goods.
RULE 5: RESPECT THE AUDIENCE
Think about who you're talking to. Users may be as young as 13 on these message boards, and may be male or female, and from countries across the globe.
-Keep your language civil. Profanity is frowned on.
-Do not post adult content, inappropriate graphic sexual content in any format, or links to sexually explicit sites.
-Do not post graphic images or explicit descriptions of violent acts.
RULE 6: RESPECT PRIVACY
-Do not post any private emails or private messages on this board. Not from your fellow players or from forum Admins, moderators, or the Devs.
-Do not post private communication between Grey Box customer support on these forums, or anywhere else.
-Do not post any information covered by a non-disclosure agreement or beta testing agreement. Even if you somehow have inside information about our competitors, for legal reasons we don’t want to hear it.
-Do not post Facebook information about other forum users.
-Do not use posts from these forums on external websites or for commercial purposes without the explicit permission of each person involved.
RULE 7: RESPECT OUR TIME
Don't waste the time of your fellow users:
-Do not post repeatedly about the same topic.
-Do not spam users on the forums or through private messages. We define spam as sending unwanted messages, or sending multiple messages in a short time.
-Do not start a thread about a news story or article unless you make it clear what the story is about, and offer your own opinion to start a discussion. Making us guess about why you posted a thread is not cool.
-See the section on ‘Non-Constructive Posts’ below.
RULE 8: RESPECT YOUR ACCOUNT
-Do not share your account information with other individuals. You will be held responsible for any rules violations that occur under your account.
-Do not create new accounts or use other tricks to avoid suspensions or bans. Any attempt to evade a sanction will result in a permanent ban.
-Do not create ‘sock puppet’ accounts – multiple accounts created just so that you can agree with yourself and make it seem like your ideas have more support than it really does.
RULE 9: RESPECT THE PRIVILEGES OF THE MODERATORS
-Do not impersonate moderators or the Developers (Yager). Do not claim to speak for or on behalf of the moderators or Developers.
-Do not post using the color red. This color is reserved for admins and moderators only to stress very important things.
-Read over the ‘Moderators’ section below to understand the responsibilities of the moderators.
-Do not post threads asking to become a moderator. If we are in need, we will let you know. :)
RULE 10: RESPECT THE DECISIONS OF THE MODERATORS
-The moderation teams reserves the right to warn, suspend, or permanently ban users judged to be acting directly against the provided rules and guidelines.
-Do not argue with moderators about moderator decisions. You can disagree with a moderator’s opinions, just like any other poster, but when they post moderator actions it is not up for discussion.
Certain actions/behaviors when posting are just a bad idea. They don’t serve a good purpose, and just make the whole board feel more negative. Avoid these types of posts to help keep the forums clean and useful. If you don't, chances are you will hear from a moderator or your post will get removed.
Examples of non-constructive posts include:
-Signing: Posts which contain only “I agree,” “+1,” or “seconded” to show agreement with a previous post. Signing without giving any further explanation or discussion doesn't add anything new to the conversation.
-Bumping: Posting on a thread for no purpose except to move the thread to the top of the forum list.
-Threads that single out another player for ridicule or anger. This forum isn’t a place for you to air your personal issues.
-Threads that exist only to threaten, boast, or gloat. Again, this isn’t your personal forum. If your topic isn't of interest to the community as a whole, it’s not constructive.
-Spam: Repetitive posting of the same topic, text, or nonsensical posts that serve no purpose, and often just annoy other users.
-Lobbying: Continually bringing up the same topic in multiple threads in an attempt to get developer attention.
-Petitioning: Asking others to “sign” your petition for new game features or other issues. Starting a discussion is great; getting just a list of names is not constructive.
-Cross-Posting: Posting the same topic or thread in more than one forum.
-Multi-Quoting: Quoting a user who was quoting a user who was quoting a user…if there are more than two levels of quotes in your reply, please clean it up before you submit.
-Rage Posts: Things like “I’m quitting,” “You’re on my ignore list now,” “I’ll never spend another dime,” etc. These posts just make the whole board feel more negative, and don’t actually accomplish anything constructive.
-Legal Action / Boycott: Do not post threads threatening legal action against Grey Box, or asking players to boycott Grey Box's products.
-Conspiracy threads: Claiming that Grey Box or its employees are showing favoritism or acting in collusion with a group or player. Grey Box doesn't take sides in any conflict. We try very hard not to give anyone in the community special treatment.
