Why did you remove the coating variations in 1.5.0 and put everything as the same bland grey? All my ships look the same now and it takes away from the allure of getting a new shiny ship, what was the reason behind this decision?

The changes made to unlockable ships in 1.5.0 was two-fold. 1) we wanted to give each ship a more distinct character through their silhouette, and 2) we wanted to push the feeling that these are ships made by a manufacturer that has a distinct style.

We accomplished the first goal by spreading more additions and modifications to ships at all tiers. The complexity and unique look of each ship becomes more impressive as you increase in tier, which is part of the captain fantasy in Dreadnought we want players to be excited about.

Changing the default coatings for all of the ships in each manufacturer tree was not an easy decision. After much discussion, the team felt it really fed into the narrative in Dreadnought we are developing. The individual manufacturers (Akula Vektor, House Oberon, and Jupiter Arms) do not have much identity in the game right now, and unifying the coatings is one of the many ways we are working to improve this.


The current "meta" gives a lot of points and experience for kills and very, very little for assists. But this is a team-based game. Are there any plans to change this, or is this how we are supposed to be playing?

Properly tracking and awarding assists are a very important part of a team-based game, and we want to reward these team-play dynamics as much as possible to encourage players working together. The current scoring system in the game rewards the same 'kill' event to more than one player, so long as they have contributed a substantial portion of the damage (>50% of the base health value) to the destroyed enemy ship. Additionally, the person that gets the final hit on a ship also gets 'kill' credit. So in Dreadnought, kills are the assists in a way. In actuality, an 'assist' in-game is triggered when someone just scrapes the killed enemy, damaging >10% of that ship's base health, and that is the reason they award less score.

We are also planning to add a completely new system that will grant additional points for specific ship class and team-based actions, such as tanking and healing. Additionally, our current iteration of the scoring system grants the same amount of points no matter what ship tier you use. We know that isn't exactly fair, because there's a big difference between healing someone on Tier-I versus on Tier-IV. We are looking into changing this scaling as well and will have more info about that update in the future.


Ryugu Haven was the second space map to be released. Are you planning to make more space maps or will your focus be on planet maps?

Yes, there will be more space maps in the future. We are planning to release one very soon and ultimately we would like to have the same amount of planet-based and space maps. You will be seeing more and more of them in future updates.


Why can't I change the flagship of my fleet?

We are rethinking the concept of flagships in fleets as we're not super happy with the current implementation. This system will be replaced with a better solution, while still getting across the same "flagship" concept, in a future update. Our design team is hard at work on these plans, and we hope to share more once the details are ironed out.

A one what? Space or planet map?

Change the full stop to a semi-colon and its clear its a space map. Which is awesome news as I love the first one.

Also very good news about adding role based score such as tanking. Im very fed up of playing my Lorica and getting a terrible score when I was the lynch-pin of the match with only the supporting 1-2 Tacs taking all credit.
