When Ceres awakens, there is plenty of treasure and tech to be scavenged by the outlaw captains who call the outer Solar System home. Are you ready to stake your claim?

Fight other captains in the new Ceres Awakens event to get a spot on our leaderboards—and get GP rewards! Joining the competition is easy, all you need to do is play the Ceres Awakens game mode that will be available until July 13th @ 10am CDT (17:00 CEST) and score as many points in the match as possible. Your match scores will be added up for all Ceres Awakens matches and determine your placement on the leaderboards.

This is what you need to do!

All you need to do is play the Ceres Awakens game mode that will be available for a limited time. The points you score in these matches will automatically be added up and represent your score for the leaderboards.
To play a Ceres Awakens match, simply select it in the “game mode” drop-down menu (under the central PLAY button).

This is how it works!

To make the competition as fair as possible and provide new players as well a veterans with an equal chance to win a prize, we have split up the leaderboards in four segments. These segments represent the rating of the fleet you're taking into battle.

  • Segment 1: Fleet Rating 1 - <2
  • Segment 2: Fleet Rating 2 - <3
  • Segment 3: Fleet Rating 3 - <4
  • Segment 4: Fleet Rating 4 - 5

Depending on the fleet you're taking into the Ceres Awakens matches, you'll be assigned to one of the segment every time you join one of these games. Your Fleet Rating is the average tier of the ships in your fleet. So if you want to make sure to always collect points for the same segment, pick a fleet, select a collection of ships you want to take into the fight and make sure to stick with them. Every player is only eligible to win one prize. See "These are the prizes" for how they will be distributed.

To maximize your score: Pick a fleet. Select your ships. Make sure you stay in the same segment.

We'll be posting a daily update of the current leaderboards on our website and update this post with a one day delay. This means the leaderboards always represent your score at midnight server time of the previous day. The final leaderboards on July 14th after the event has ended will determine the winners of the prizes.

These are the prizes!

The top 5 players of each segment will receive GP prizes!

  • 1st: 4000 GP
  • 2nd - 5th: 1200 GP
  • 6th - 20th: Indigo Dusk Coating Collection

Every player is only eligible for one prize. Since it is possible for one player to reach a top 5 spot in more than one segment, we will start assigning prizes from the highest tier down and from the 1st place down. This means if a player scores 1st place in Segment 4 and 3rd place in Segment 2, they receive the 1st place prize for Segment 4 and the players placed behind them in segment 2 move up.

Well this looks interesting. Nice to see some events like this, step in the right direction.
EDIT: Here's a question though, and I apologize if I'm just blind and missing it- When does this event start? I see an end time/date, but no start, and I don't have the game mode as an option yet in game.
EDIT#2: Restarted the client and I now have it. For anyone else wondering, it's started, but if you had the game open when the event went live, simply restart the client and you'll see the mode in the drop-down.

A note to the devs:

Put in a randomizer for where the caches pop up. With static placement, it guarantees that either vettes or vindictas will pick them up right off the bat. AND, having players camp spawns just sucks...

"You don't mind that I overclocked the ship's modules, right? I mean, it's not like they've caught on fire..."

Anyone does have a point about the heals, chances are good that most of the winners will in fact be in TACs, and I'd bet at least half of them will also be SOS people.

It'll still be interesting to see how it shakes out, and will likely give the devs a lot of data to use in designing future events.

Looks like fun and a nice way to shake things up......

Only thing perhaps, would be to make it require use of a well armed Base or Command-Ship that one much in turn bring the spoils to for the effects to then be broadcast out from and/or to be harvested by the one bringing them in per the kind of pod acquired, 'Ore' Make it take effect on the ones that pick them up as "individual" boosts?


"Why not do both" With something like this made a more long-term goal type mode, with the ability to find pickups in a fight, along with the added use of a "Cargo" system, that lets faster smaller ships look for loot they can thing either 'Use' or 'Eject' to give to bigger allies to aid a push.

(so like, one can go hunting "Repair Pods" that contain Nanites or whatever Lore-Thing and either use them in their Corvette to self-aid in a Raid, OR drop off to give a massive over-heal to an allied DN or such at key places, etc)

Could also add the function to "Sabotage" a Cargo to use as a weapon? smile
* That same ammo-box becomes a large bomb or the same Repair Pod box to be used as a large AoE threat, etc.

Safe to say, this kind of Mode Idea has some real legs to it. ^-<

So only 5 people get anything from this event?..

Having just played (still playing at the mo) the recent month long Mechwarrior Online Summer Event they are having with their game, THAT is an event (infact most of MWO's events are very good and get alot of people playing), if this is the kind of events Dreadnoughts running or will in the future then i dont see them doing well (heck I played in the MWO Resistance Tournament and placed 30th for the Grasshopper mech and got 2 rewards, the top 75 for each mech variant got 1-3 rewards with teh top 25 getting all 3) ... I know I wont get anything in the Dreadnought event, so why should I bother playing the event what incentive do i have as a player to actually participate? In a game like MWO you at least get something from participation and completing event milestones and the rewards are fairly prevelant from creds to free colors, free mechs, mech bay extensions, free cockpit items etc.

How about a free decal for a ship if a player gets X amount of score during the event (and it has to be at least a reasonable score goal) during the event or say a sizable amount of credits or free XP?... or heaven forbid maybe a scaling GP reward based on your score toping out at around 200 (enough for a cheap coating or emblem).

Disappointing event from the looks of it and not a good sign if this is how they start. You want an event that brings players in especially getting the old players who might not have been playing for a while, then follow the MWO event playbook.

i have to agree with the people above :p
the event is quite dissapointing

  • the gamemode puts a huge emphasis on the ships most of your 'inexperienced' community already 'hate' the most (fast ships like corvettes/vindictas), it frustrates most people to have to counter them non stop, now you give those ships another advantage by adding buffs only they can pick up

  • the leaderboard rewards are only for a small number of people who basicaly just have to go 'nolife' and stay ingame non stop (if you had any type of decent size community then the only people winning this event would be those who share their character with friends to get more matches)

  • the fleet rating system makes sure that the only way to win = take 4 lower tier ships and add 1 high tier that you play, so you can always get the match scores of your highest tier ship while getting into the leaderboard of a low tier fleet

To be fair, this does make sense.....

Perhaps only allow the use of fleets where all (up to5) slots are in use by the same tier of ship?
(again it isn't that hard to have all the ships in a fleet the same tier even if it's just one ship, lulz)

Also, really it would be better for all who partake to be able to earn something,
Per THEIR efforts more than just if they place 5th+ out of hopefully a couple thousands playing?

Like, Put thresholds in place like WoWs did with the "Clash of the Elements" where you earn something like Tokens to buy a choice of Rewards with, or otherwise "Tiers" of rewards that people can work towards per their efforts.

(and perhaps the "Top X" number get something extra for those 'really' into it.)

But again, this is "Beta" and THIS is why we do these things, to learn what 'Does' but more importantly "Does Not" work. smile

This sort of thing is a good idea, and can serve as a good way for Devoted players to earn a somewhat reliable (if small) source of GP, and all players to get small gifts "for free" that show up as population.
