Dreadnought (On The Ground)
It’s been an incredible journey since the introduction of Hawken on Steam, back in 2014. The game’s
success has been largely due to your continuous support. The Hawken community has been the
cornerstone of this ever-evolving franchise.
After 3 great years, we are shutting down the PC Steam servers to refocus our development efforts. The
PC game will officially be removed on January 2, 2018, and all DLC and purchasable content will also be
unavailable starting today.
It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience working alongside such a dedicated PC player base. Your
feedback and support has been invaluable to us, and the team looks forward to creating more great
games based on what we’ve learned from you.
Thank you all very much for your support!
The Hawken Team
Very sad day for me and the end of a great game that had so much potential.
Now lets take a look at what went wrong.
Well everything started out great, no tiers, no harsh penalties, no ridiculously over priced XP conversions, no tech trees, no forcing you to do things you did't want to do. Then, something happened! No one really knows how or why but things started to change. As the dedicated players patiently awaited updates what we got instead was nothing short of a disaster.
It all came with the announcement that Hawken would be ported to PS4. We, the playerbase thought HE|| YEAH, this is going to be great for the game. What could possibly go wrong? Right? More players, means more revenue for the company, witch in turn should deliver ground breaking updates to revolutionize the game for the masses.
Instead we got tiers, penalties, tech trees, ridiculously over priced conversion rates, re-skinned mechs that was portrayed as new mechs and most importantly BUGS! I mean BUGS out the wazzu. Constant disconnects, freezes, modules not responding the way they are suppose to and on and on and on....
At first the playerbase embraced the changes and provided constant valuable feedback to try and improve the mechanics that were implemented. Instead we were ignored, lied to and of course the most vocal about how bad the game was getting, BANNED FROM VOICING THEIR OPINION!
The true downfall of the game came with each new update that seemed more focused on implementing new ways of trying to force you to spend money rather then fixing the bugs.
"Game keeps crashing on you? Well here's a new Mech that will only costs you $40 dollars, maybe if you buy this you will forget that the game is unplayable." "Oh your modules are not working? Well no worries, here's a Tech Tree so you don't have to worry about that module anymore because now it will take FOREVER to unlock that module anyway." "The progression is to slow? No problem buy this booster and problem solved!" But its not solved not a single thing you did had any effect on the problems at hand.
Then came the A.I Bots to fill player slots. Why? What possible reason could you have for adding computer controlled players to a PVP match? None of us could understand why this feature was added at all. Then like a ton of bricks it hit us, the game was actually dying. The player-base was declining faster then new players were joining. We Revolted against this new system and one by one banned from voicing our opinion.
Now here we are with Dreadnought copying this exact same game model down to the letter. Deja-vu, almost like I'm watching a mirrored image of the past. Is it working for Dreadnought? Not at all! Do the developers see this? NOT AT ALL!
