I'm feeling fairly optimistic about this update, next time I'm with a gaming rig on shore I'll have to dive back into DN and test the waters.

WTF would they make ships slower?

Your tactics are dirty and hilarious beyond words. I look forward to trying them out.

My Dreadnought in that match had micro nuke salvo, target warp jump, and stasis pulse. I'd jump.in launch nukes, stasis pulse lanch my missiles and take down there shields before warping back out and watching.my nukes take care of them. Two of them where in corvettes at the start but after eating a stasis pulse 2-3 times they switched.

Oh... For Feth's Gakking sake. This goes on for 16 frakking pages?

Step 1) Get in yo' Dreadnought

Step 2) Load yo' broadside

Step 3) Mark the 'Vette, watch the 'vette.

Step 4) Swat the fly.

Seriously.

Ok, I mostly play big, stupid, fat dreadnoughts. I've dabbled in everything else, mostly to learn how to kill everything else with a big, stupid, fat dreadnought.

And, yes, hands down at T2 the Dover rekts faces everywhere sealclubbers aren't.

I'm not going to claim everything is hunky-dory and that there aren't SERIOUS balance issues with Corvettes.

What I will claim is that Corvettes, as an entire class, are not OP.

Unless Dreadpony is flying one of theirs.

Unless Dreadpony is flying, I generally view 'vettes as free kills. Even without specialized 'Vette killing gear.

Broadsides are readily available and filled with auto-aim lol-killing goodness, same with autoguns, same with missiles.

Keep your eyes on a swivel, mark targets for your team, be aware of targets marked by your team. Yes, it takes skill, that's why the T2 Dover is such a source of rage.

Jutland + Warp + Armor Amp + Ballistic/Plasma Broadside + Autoguns + whatever missiles + Retaliator + Slow and Steady + Weapons 101 + that other thing that improves damage resistance.

Use warp to jump onto friendlies and strengthen the wolfpack, as opportunities present themselves, warp onto isolated enemies and spam ALL your weapons with shields up to recharge everything with Retaliator.

Rise, repeat.

What this guy said.

The ship's having visual doodads on their hulls is pretty cool, and for me enhances immersion. Seeing hatches, breezeways, shuttle hangers, helipads, etc. Makes them seem like a real vessel within their soft sci-fi universe.

Your namesake doesn't launch fighters, yet it still has a hanger. lol

Just treat it as a design. The hanger I see it as a place for shuttles, not fighters.

You want -WTF!!- remember, the Vector arty cruiser has the hanger -between- the arms of the main cannon. I take it that when they say 'Launch the shuttle!' they mean it literally. lol

Rad, all the links work.

Isn't there some kind of "Battle Bonus" thing in place now that supposedly either replaced this or mitigates this???

Crazy pants on head... I thought they'd removed maintenance.

Granted, I've been away working on a ship for a while, so I'm hella out of the loop.

If you're wondering about the costs of maintenance, I made a spreadsheet ages ago that sheds some light on it, no reason to believe much has changed since.

Few things I could not find about this is

  • What the is "maintenance" fee after playing with veteran ship?

  • How is the amount calculated?

  • What's the short term and longer term effect of hitting skip?

  • How does it fit with the game play?

First time i saw the popup for it, I was surprised and hit the 'skip it' button.

I irritated me enough to have a random unexplained 'up keep' fee show up enough to ask about it here.

I don't know where you're going with this, but i don't like it.

Should link you to the thread, hopefully the table is still accessible.

I made a table of maintenance costs by fleet composition.

Hopefully you can find a way to improve your experience with the data.

Also, if you lose and are in the top 3 overall you should avoid paying maintenance.
