Graphics are still not fixed - best resolution I can get in windowed mode is nothing close to what I used to be able to get before they messed with graphics settings.

i r dumb - looks like they replaced maintenance with battle bonus - I misunderstood why I was being charged to play - apparently I wasn't, i had the option to pay to get a battle bonus on my next battle.

tldr version : I used to be able to play windowed with 2560x1440 resolution and now the game is forcing me to play full screen only at that resolution.

Long version:

I have a 3440x1440 monitor.

I do not play at that resolution because it actually clips the top and the bottom of what you can see when you go widescreen in this game.

You can see what I am talking about here:

Imgur

The red box is what you see when you play in widescreen, the outer image is what you see when you play in full screen. I highlighted with yellow ovals sections from the picture that you can clearly see objects disappearing from the view of the hangar when you switch to widescreen. I did some math, you basically lose 25% of your vertical view when you switch to widescreen.

Being a player that enjoys competition, I want to be on an even footing with my enemies in game. Playing in widescreen mode basically handicaps me since I see less than others.

Because I want a full view of my surroundings when I play, the next best resolution I could get was 2560x1440 in Windowed mode. It was a sacrifice to play in windowed mode since I could see my desktop on either side of the game and it reduced the immersion aspect of the game. But, that's the best I could do if I wanted to see everything I could see while I played.

I have been playing this way from the start. And I have really enjoyed my time with this game.

With 1.9.1 however, whenever I switch to 2560x1440 resolution it forces the display mod to full screen which not only look awful but puts me back into the situation highlighted above where I am basically playing with vertical blinders.

The only resolution I can play at where I am not forced to play in non-widowed mode is 1600x900. That's a window on my screen that is two third's the size of the window I used to play at. I feel like I am playing a browser game at that resolution and I can't make out details.

Can we get this fixed some time soon?

The problem as I see it is as follows:

Every original tier version of a manufacturer and ship class is smaller than any later tier version of that ship. This is because the later tiers basically slap on appearance attachments to alter the look of the original. They never reduce the size from the original.

If, hit boxes are modified by the appearance attachments then they increase the size of the hit box making the ship easier to hit. If that is the case then max/min players would always strip off the appearance attachments to reduce the size of the ship back to the original model.

Regardless, we, as players should be told how it works so that we can make informed decisions about our ships. This is a pvp game up front information on something like that gives the game legitimacy if they ever want tournaments and the like.

If the attachments make the ships easier to hit then the devs have two choices:

1) Leave it as it is and let people trade vanity for handicaps. If this is communicated to the playerbase clearly, it is perfectly acceptable since people will make informed decisions. Of course in competitive play we will see the min-tier models being used exclusively.

2) Make the hitboxes uniform regardless of appearance attachments. Again, if this is communicated to the playerbase clearly, it is perfectly acceptable since people will make informed decisions. In competitive play ships will have a variety of physical configurations. The cost is that players will need to accept that they may not have hit that Outis since the nose looks longer than it really is.

Regardless of the outcome - we should be informed. Keeping these things secret does no one any good in the long run.

What it says.

If I use my Outis with figurehead forecastle - which makes the nose thicker and longer - will it alter the hit box for the ship making it an easier target?

[Edit: Looks like there is already a thread discussing this here https://www.greybox.com/dreadnought/en/forum/topic/80690/ ]

Well crud. I finally decided to play some tier 3 ships and found this nasty surprise. I was just barely getting my friends interested in this game and when they find this out they are going to drop like flies... We left World Of Tanks cause of the way they turned a good game into garbage with a go for broke money grab approach to their games... Why can't these companies just make money off people wanting to rush xp-credits on unlocking components and ships, buying hero ships and using cosmetics?

I was in a recruit match where this guy in a corvette just destroyed everyone and then apologized to everyone for what he called "seal clubbing" because he had to make credits and the system forced him to do it at the expense of demoralizing newbies and essentially turning some of them off of the game. What was posted above was correct, this system will make the player base cannibalize itself by turning away new players because veteran players will have to prey on them to pay these maintenance fees.

Please fix this.

Wow, 3 months now and still have this issue?
