is it wrong for me to hope its some epic ochestral space drama-ey stuff?

If you like epic space drama and music by Mahler you should check out an old anime called Legend of the Galactic Heroes.

Nothing but slam jam mashups

This is definitely a map I'd be interested in seeing!

Just a bit of insider info: I've been keeping an eye on these suggestions and have been compiling ones I want to see in game and ones that are popular with you folks. This obviously isn't my decision but I wanted to let y'all know I'm watching/listening and will keep these in mind when passing along suggestions to the devs.

KEEP 'EM COMING!

You're not the only one. I've got a bunch of notes from all of the suggestions here <3

In the past when working on our objective-driven game mode prototypes we found that any kind of tug-o-war gameplay heavily favored fast ships and essentially made the warp module mandatory on the Dreadnought. In an FPS it's relatively easy to turn around and recapture an objective, but in our game you could watch paint dry while waiting for your Dreadnought to adjust its heading.

What we're trying to push for the objective-driven mode is a feature set that lets every class work to their strengths. For example, the Dreadnought working very well at area-of-denial, or the corvette as a fast striker.

Don't worry, once we're live you'll have plenty of opportunities to try and kill me ;) Don't get your hopes up though.

Wasn't one of the two maps persent at PAX similar to this ? You start the ship selection near a planet similar to saturn, and then the battle take place in his ring of asteroids.

That is indeed where the space map is :) To be more precise, the map takes place along the edge of the B-ring near the Cassini Division.

Right now, the captain's name is displayed on the target marker. We all want to display the ship name with the captain's name because it adds to the fantasy but since real-estate on the target marker is at a premium, it's difficult to come up with a solution. However, we're not giving up just yet :)

It might sound strange but what about having the ship name in the Hit Point bar itself? contrasting colours would make it stand out and save space.

Unless you plan on having other information in that space like health percentage ..etc. Ship name and ship health could go hand in hand.

Currently on the target marker we display the target health, target range, what abilities you have locked on to that ship, buff/debuffs, and captain's name. It's quite a bit of information.

My2Cents: I would prefer ship's name on target marker and the ship's name + captain name in the stat/end game report page.

Thanks for the feedback :)

We rather like the idea of having a map take place inside a hollowed out asteroid. It could be a rather tempting resource for two teams to fight over :)

Thanks Nathan,

Hope you had a nice weekend,

What type of perks are we likely to see from increased crew skill?

Will it be along the lines reduced cool downs increased buff duration, and/or increased stats (weapon damage..etc)

While I can't say anything too specific you'll be able to pick an array of perks to suit your playstyle. For example, if I wanted to play as a carrier, I'd customize my officers to fit that style.

In addition to being able to customize your ship, you'll be able to customize your crew. As your captain levels up, so will your crew, and new perks will unlock for your captain and officers. It's not a traditional talent tree, but there will be robust customization options available.

Thanks for the answer Nathan. Will we be able to change their names or give them names when they join the crew? Or will they be managed by the game entirely?

You'll be able to customize your officer's name and appearance.
