It seems to me that when maintenance was removed the majority of players was so happy that they did not question the new system. However, just removing maintenance without BB as a replacement would have been a much simpler, cleaner and overall better solution that would have required a lot less work.

I don't know about that - when maintenance got removed, there were a LOT of bugs. xp awards were low, much lower than before. TE got removed due to new bugs. Essentially, that's when people started leaving the game - I didn't get a sense of happiness back. I'd argue that the game was at its most stable and least buggy state prior to the 1.8 patch, not after. The point being - the maintenance removal patch was the beginning of the bug galore that this game has since become.

Maybe I was not clear and I am sorry if it caused confusion but I only meant that they were happy about the new system (as BB does not lock fleets anymore), I was not talking about bugs or reward balancings that came with the patch. I agree that the bugs we have to face right now are a problem. Btw I also think that the BB system is an improvement compared to the maintenance system, but better does not necessarily mean good. The question is if it should stay as it is or if it needs changes or if it has to go completely and I tried to state my oppinion on that matter in my previous post.

I agree with Captain Nemo. BB should not encourage someone to go back to recruit and bully new players. It will only frustrate them and make them quit. Furthermore why should you get an overall higher reward in recruit if it is less effort for a skilled player to get a high score and win the game just by sealclubbing? It makes no sense at all.

If anything it should be the other way: recruit should have the longest cool down and legendary the shortest. This way players would be motivated to progress faster to get better rewards.

Imo recruit should be a place where new players can get used to the controls and learn the basics of the game before they play in veteran and face more skilled players. Btw most modern games use some kind of rank or league system so that players face opponents of equal or nearly equal skill because in the end my guess is that everybody just wants to have a fair game where their contribution counts and not a game that is decided before it even has started just because one side has a far more experienced player that carries the whole team.

If there are not enough players in recruit the missing spots could easily be filled with bots. Bots will not have such a great impact on the outcome of the match in recruit as they have in veteran because the average skill difference between bots and recruit players is far less than the average skill difference between bots and veteran players. I have had many matches where one team lost because they had a bot that was constantly feeding the enemy team in veteran. I doubt that this will be the case in recruit, most recruit players probably won't even notice the difference between a human player and a bot.

I also would not mind if the BB system gets removed and everybody just gets xp and credits like it was before (as Captain Nemo has suggested in his first post). Imo the BB system (as it is now) is not beneficial in anyway and just makes the whole reward system more complicated and in the end it just encourages sealclubbing.
