Welcome to Dreadnought Silhada! My name is Tim, I work with the Community Team here on Dreadnought.
You made it really easy for me to make sure I answer all of your questions, so thanks for that!
Queue times are a tough nut to crack sometimes. We have the players, it is just getting people matched the right way. The system is ever evolving, and we are collecting data on it, so ultimately, the more you play, the more we are able to figure out how to make MM better.
We don't have a pay-to-win model, but we do have a pay-to-speed-up-your-advancement by converting experience. Keeping in mind that in order to gain that experience that you convert, you still have to put in work to gain it, so it is not just pay to get further in the game. The other hard currency options you have are things like, as you mentioned, cosmetic items such as coatings and decals.
I would actually flip this question back to you in a few weeks and ask you how it was. There is a Discord server full of a lot of veteran players who are always looking for new people to play with, but I would be curious what your experience has been like!
If you're looking for something that is super face paced, like Overwatch, Dreadnought is not that game. If you're looking for something a bit slower paced (but fast match times), Dreadnought is the place. An average TDM match takes around 12-15 minutes.
As I mentioned, the Discord is a really great place to go for information, a lot of players are really excited to help new people taking the helm of their first ship. The forums are another great resources. The Rookie Helping Hand Flight Manual is a great place to start! I would recommend following our social media channels, we do information about patches, as well as in-game content on both Facebook and Twitter!

Welcome to the fight, let me know if this helps, and if not, I'll write other things until it does help!
Well, time to rethink Operation Rapture Jack.
So, I wrote this above, but it got disappeared, so here.
Ever wonder who you're chatting with on the forums or social media? Well, above is a profile for all of the members of our Dreadnought Community Team. The images should be expendable if they are too small to read!
Don't hesitate to ask questions if you want to learn more!
As a quick breakdown
