Faction, class and why?

Hey everyone, this post is really just to see what everyone is playing and why they chose to play that. Please share the faction and ship type you fly, as well as any reasoning on why that you may have. I'll go first.

I fly Jupiter Arms corvettes. I enjoy the vett because they are a fast hit and run class that can take down key targets quickly. I fly Jupiter Arms because Oberon vetts are way too slow and no longer have that same feel that comes along with play a vett. I chose jupiter over akula because I had already worked my way down to T3 Oberon to be disappointed by their speed, Jupiter arms have a lower xp requirement to get from T2 to T3 than akula so I chose that route to catch back up ASAP.

That being said when I am bored of my vett or just having an off day and crippling my team, I do play Oberon ships as a whole because they are the most mobile (with the vett being the exception).

I roll with Akula Vector as I love the Artillery Cruisers they house. I'm less about the looks and more about the functionality and performance, and I think their Artillery Cruisers are vastly superior than both Oberon and Jupiter Arms. I'm still a huge fan of the Tugarin, because my love for the Medium Artillery Cruiser was always a thing. Maybe that could change in the future, but right now? Akula Vector all day. smile

Probably won't argue about akula artys being superior to jupiter, but I would about oberon's ones.

From my personal impression, even though developers clearly tried to balance ships around 3 primary aspects - damage/health/speed -they failed a little bit and underestimated the importance of speed.

Therefore, with very few exceptions, the general rule is - the faster the ship, the better it is overall. Exceptions are likely dreds - I don't think either one is better, here the balance of those 3 factors is almost perfect. And Kreshnik is the second exception - although it's not the slowest of 3, it's an ultimate trash, beyond any sense of logic. With the Dola being the second place, this one is The Worst Ship In The Game - by very-very far (not too far from Dola, though)

Speed means not only the tactical flexibility, but the simple fact, that you are rather hard to hit (that's why it doesn't matter much for dreds, as all 3 are equally easy to hit, and thus Lorica only benefits from tactical positioning part of speed).

If you define arty's job as staying alive and doing damage, the Oberon's Nox is better at it. The dps is about the same as all arties, but it's impossible to touch this ship. Dreds and destros (except light) can't catch it, since it's the 4th fastest ship of its Tier (Valcour and Neutron are 1th and 2nd, Vindicta is 3d, I believe). Nox will just keep running and firing.
Arty duels - also in Nox favour. Relatively high hp - so Onager can't oneshot it - after the first hit Nox just starts maneuring, while bringing the constant return fire.
If she starts first - from stealth for example - the initial burst of "Rapid Fire Mode" coupled wtih Power to Weapons is probably the highest in game and can be imeediately fatal for enemy.
Vettes usually fail too, since they can't flank a ship with 4*pi steradians main gun firing angle.

In other words, oberon is love, oberon is life! (And they also have the best skins, which is factor too)

Destroyer - Medium - Jupiter Arms - Vigo / Athos
.. I don't think you can go wrong with this one. Jack of all trades, master of none if there is one in DN

Tac Cruiser - Medium - Oberon - Ceres / Aion
.. Heavy medic is more rewarding but harder to play which is why Aion class is still relevant. Bigger margin of error in soloQ since you can deal with assassination attempts better semi independently.

Dreadnought - Medium - Akula Vektor - Cherno / Voro / Zmey
.. Zmey class dreadnoughts fit the public meta much neater than all the other tanks. Monarch is super strong but only in top tier play. Oberon tanks can't tank versus good destroyers. Akula Vektor is overall more dependable when breaking siege.

Artillery - Light - Oberon - Furia / Nox
.. You don't need a sniper mentality to fly this in fact you shouldn't. Fly it like a Vigo and you're good. There are instances when I prefer one over the other so having both in my fleet feels like the way to go for me.

Corvette - Heavy - Akula Vektor - Stribog / Netron
.. I'm a horrible vette pilot. I'm also vain. If I ever decide to unlock a T5 it would purely be for the looks. And I get a virtual bo.ner looking at the Netron.

I tend to drive xbox-huege beatsticks in every online game I play (Heavy Tanks in WoT, MBTs in AW, BBs in WoW, etc), so I'm grinding up my Akula Dreadnoughts and am itching to break into the other lines as well (Jutland and Monarch are dreamy...).

Other then that, I seem to be a passable healer and sniper (with the Akula cannons and Oberon whales).

All I'm going to say about corvettes is that I'm garbage with them.

Really loving the game so far, but the T3 to T4 jump seems a tad excessive sometimes.

Jupiter Arms because I want that monarch lol best dreadnought in the game or so I have heard plus so far I really like their destroyers I like the more rapid fire of the repeater turrets as opposed to the slow heavy plasma cannons of the Akula Vektor.

My only gripe so far with Jupiter Arms is that the Jutland's main weapons are horrible they deal no damage even at point blank range almost which makes actually upgrading this ship a really long and horrible experience and it needs to be buffed other then that Jupiter arms is so far my favorite manufacture I would like to see more added down the line either manufacturers or ships the variety is good so far but it can only get better as time goes on if they add more stuff.

If you are having trouble with the Jutland, you are going to HATE the Monarch. It is a larger, slower Jutland. The Jupiter Arms dreads are designed to soak damage and push while the fleet uses them for cover. Without dedicated heals and pushing, Jupiter dreads are just floating targets due to their lack of speed and incredible primary range restrictions (they rely on their secondaries) . They are by no means DPS boats. Also, only the Akula Dread uses Plasma batteries as their main. The Akula destroyers use ballistic cannons and absolutely shred face.

Dreads: Hands down the Akula Line are my favorite dreads followed closely by Oberon (which are just heavy destroyers). Akula can take and deal incredible amounts of damage while leading the fleet.

Destroyers: Jupiter destroyers shine here closely followed by Akula (which are light dreads). Jupiter destroyer design as well as their weapon range and fire power easily places them first here.

Artillery: Hands down Oberon again. The ability to just spam damage consitently and defend yourself consistently against vettes is amazing. Akula is my second choice.

Tactical Cruiser: I think they all shine equally. Akula is my go to because I play dedicated heals. Oberon because you can defend and heal. Jupiter because beam warfare.

Corvette: Oberon wins this one again in my book. They are not as fast as Jupiter or as heavy as Akula, but they have the right mix and better weapon arc which makes them tops. The new "Phoenix" skin is also a huge bonus.
