We have great news Grey Goo fans!
Soon, we will be implementing a Public Test Branch (PTB for short) in Steam. This is to help us further gain your valuable feedback and confirmation of fixes on intended gameplay changes, such as the recently announce balance updates in the Official News section here in the forums:
When live, this branch will grant players early access to upcoming changes before they go live. This will help us validate some of the larger, more risky game changes like performance optimizations, game balance, and AI improvements, as well as give players an opportunity to provide feedback on upcoming changes before they are released.
The PTB will only be available for a limited amount of time per set of upcoming changes. For each cycle, the test period will be announced a few days in advance to help players schedule around it. These times may even include the presence of developers who will be on hand to help evaluate changes in real time.
Being part of the PTB player base should be a fun experience, but also know that we need every bit of help focusing on the changes we make, from small bug fixes to larger scale content additions. The end goal is to make the game better, and that's something that we'd like to accomplish alongside our community.
When the PTB is closed each period, keep your eyes on the website for progress on the game update, as well as announcements concerning future PTB events.
Accessing the Public Test Branch (PTB) (When available! Check forums for first open date)
Step 1: Log in to Steam
Step 2: Right click Grey Goo in your Library
Step 3: Select Properties
Step 4: Click the Betas tab
Step 5: Select PTB in the dropdown
Step 6: Click close
There may be a significant download at the start of the switch to the PTB, so please access the PTB as soon as you can when the time for testing opens up!
Submitting Your Feedback
Having a PTB is not nearly as useful without your feedback. Please provide feedback in this newly created PTB section of the forums. This section may only be open during a small window after the testing time closes, so please submit your feedback promptly! ONLY PTB discussions should go in this area, not issues and recommended changes based on the public build.
Game Crash on the PTB?
If the game crashes on the PTB at any time, please wait until the crash report window finishes generating a file to send to us! If you close the game prematurely before this process ends, we will not know what may have caused the crash.
If you have any questions, please let us know here!
