What mystery lies at the heart of the tower?

I made this wooden puzzle box live on Twitch. This is actually my first such puzzle box. I was planning on building one for some time, but they are pretty intimidating builds. Looking at RiME, with its puzzle-solving elements and powerful imagery though, I was finally inspired enough to try building a cylindrical puzzle box inspired by the game's central tower.
The puzzle itself is relatively simple. It's a four-motion puzzle based on an interior maze-style latch and a hidden pin. There is enough space inside for something small, and I used this space to hide my own mystery (the scroll with the red ribbon). Whoever gets this box and opens it, will get to read something that is (hopefully) poignant.
